Palestine and Israel History

The Palestinian–Israeli conflict is an ongoing struggle which is between the Palestinians and Israelis which began in late 19th century. Before World War 1 Middle East region was under the control of Ottoman Empire.Almost at the end of 19th century Palestine was divided into Mustasarrifate of Jerusalem,Syria Vilayet and Beirut Vilayet and was inhabited mostly by Arab Muslims. The roots of the conflict began when the national movements arose including Zionism and Arab nationalism.
Zionist movement started or was called for establishing a new state a nation state for the Jewish people in Palestine.to return to Zion had been a religious part for the Jews. They started to call Palestine as the land of Israel. The World Zionist Organization and Jewish National Fund inspired with hope and funded purchase of land in region of Palestine under British and Ottoman rule.
While Arab nationalism in early form and Syrian nationalism continued their loyalty to the Ottoman state. The first recorded incident between Arabs and Jews was shooting dead of an Arab man by a Jewish guard during a wedding in 1882.And then in response almost 200 Arabs attack in sudden on the Jewish settlement by throwing stones and destroyed their property.Time by time many incidents took place and rivalry went on and on and by 1908 13 Jews were killed.Zionist strong desire of achieving was identified as a threat by the Arab leaders.By time Jews acquired much land in Palestine and then Arab people had started protests against it.Therefor the Ottoman authorities in 1892 banned the sale of land to foreigners. And by 1914 there were 60,000 Jews in Palestine from which 33,000 were permanent settlers.
During the World War 1 Ottoman Empire had joined the central powers with Germany and opposed Britain and France. At this time there was possibility of releasing Palestine from the control of Ottoman which led the Jews and Arabs to support the alignment of France,UK and Russia. An agreement was formed in which Arabs were to give full power to Arab lands under Ottoman control to form an Arab state in exchange with Great Arab Revolt against Ottomans. In the war British defeated Ottoman and Palestine came under their control till the war ended. In 1919 the future president of World Zionist Organisation met the future king of Iraq Faisal 1 and signed a treaty. It was based on the fulfillment of Britain war time promises of Jewish homeland in Palestine. It led the Arab population to reject Syrian Arab Nationalist movement and instead to break violence for Palestine to become a separate state with Arab majority.
